Implementation Senior – This is an exciting role in our fast-growing payroll team within EY. The successful candidate will be part of the Implementation team with responsibility for delivery of high quality and timely implementations for new clients.
The opportunity
We are currently seeking high potential Implementation Senior to deliver exceptional client service and enable the continued growth of Payroll Operate Services practice. An in-depth understanding of Payroll life cycle and BPO/ shared services environment is required.
Your key responsibilities
- The Implementation Senior in the Payroll Operate services will play a strategic role in supporting the Manager and GCR leadership in executing the vision for the build out of new implementations for EY GDS.
- The role provides subject matter expertise, project management, and coordination and support to local (UK) Payroll operation teams to ensure our payroll service is fit for purpose. The role supports the initiatives of the Global Payroll engagements. Responsible for implementation delivery support in conjunction with EY’s engagement leaders and partners globally.
- Provide outstanding contribution/support to consulting with engagement teams on all compliance and reporting activities.
Responsibilities
Responsible for partnering with the Global Payroll engagement teams to drive GDS Implementation Projects for UK Payroll.
- Establishes and manages the client implementation project in coordination with various teams across locations to ensure target dates are met.
- Interact with clients to understand their Payroll / HR needs and develop requirements to ensure the implementation is completed on time to the highest quality.
- To perform Data Migration Consultant role, advising clients at various intervals as part of the role requirement.
- Support your Manager/Team in meeting the project timelines and participate and drive project management activities (plan, analyse etc) and document client requirements. Liaise and agree dates with other teams and monitor project progress.
- Works with third party teams and project managers where required.
- Accurately documents the proposed payroll functionality and first draft procedures.
- To Organise and conduct client system training where required
- Co-ordinate’s data take-on, parallel and first live runs with the client and the relevant internal departmental teams.
- Co-ordinates follow-up with relevant EY departments post implementation.
- Co-ordinate’s system set up and configuration.
- Build and manage multi-disciplinary functions (process & technology) that can successfully operationalize the end-to-end engagement lifecycle of the Finance and Accounting operations.
- Strong understanding and proven abilities of executing Global Payroll industry standards and market landscape that will determine the value proposition and competitive advantage for the shared service hub.
What we look for
We are looking for candidates with core expertise and proven experience in Implementation of UK Payroll and who can work well with global teams.
- Conducts a thorough analysis of clients' payroll & HR needs to establish specific calculation rules, reporting and interface requirements.
- Develops a project plan using Microsoft Project.
- Compiles as required the payroll requirements detailing each payroll element, its calculation and usage, pay slip description, reports, electronic output/CSV file and interfaces.
- Compiles a UK Payroll Procedure/ Manual in conjunction with MS and the client, detailing the format that data will be received in, deadlines, process flows, payroll-processing schedules etc.
- Obtains formal client sign off for the project plan, Payroll Requirements and Payroll Procedures Manual.
- Liaises with the Data Migration consultants to determine the appropriate method and conversion of data files in consultation with the Technical Consultant if required to ensure the accurate mapping and standardization of data.
- Schedule time to work to convert and Migrate data.
- Schedule time to work on parallel payroll runs.
- Ensures that the project is running to established time scales and attends project meetings with the client to discuss progress and critical issues.
- Provides progress reports to the client and internally as required.
- Communicates critical issues and risks to appropriate team members.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Supports other Implementation teams as and when required.

- Good Project management skills
Additionally,
- A payroll certification (CIPP) will be a plus, but not necessary
- Expertise in VBA/Macro would be added advantage though not mandatory.
Skills and attributes for success
6 to 8 years of experience in Payroll implementation for multiple clients- CIPP certification will be advantage.
- Thorough understanding on the UK Payroll compliance and statutory requirements.
- Expatriate payroll understanding is required.
- Proven ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in English in a clear and concise manner
- Good at project and stakeholder management.
- Familiar with reporting monthly metrics to clients.
- Should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Science
- Previous experience in handling high volume payroll implementation and experience of managing multiple clients
- Experience in Microsoft Office suite of products –Advanced excel
- Experience in personnel and people management, including supervision and team building
- Proven ability to work effectively either as an individual or member of a team and relate effectively with staff on all levels.
